Andrii Ganchuk Bass~Baritone
Swiss resident Ukrainian bass-baritone Andrii Ganchuk studied music in Kiev and singing at the Royal College of Music in Cardiff, where he made his debut roles: Ford (Falstaff), Maurrant (Street Dance) and Smirnov (The Bear). He was a member of the Berlin Opera Academy and the Opera di Roma studio. There he was in the 2018/19 season in roles such as Rigoletto, Escamillo ("Carmen"), Baron ("La Traviata"), Sprecher (Die Zauberflöte), Rochefort (Anna Bolena) Pritschitsch (The Merry Widow), Faust (The fiery Angel), Amonasro (Aida), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Zaretsky (Eugene Onegin).
Further engaged as a freelance artist in five new productions by Ai WeiWei, Damiano Michieletto, Robert Carsen, Denis Krief and Emilio Sagi in roles including Escamillo, Masetto, Onegin (cover), Zaretsky and Mandarino, Thierry, Javelot and cover of Marquis de la Force in Dialogues des Carmelites. Gnachuk sang the part of Zaretsky at Opera di Roma.
Recently he made the debut in Austria in the part of Talbot (Maria Stuarda by Donizetti), a role he had recorded with Diana Damrau, Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
Ganchuk has collaborated with conductors such as Daniele Gatti, James Conlon, Riccardo Frizza, Carlo Rizzi, Omer Meir Wellber (Volksoper Wien) and Alejo Perez (Vlaamse Opera) as well as with well-known directors such as Damiano Michieletto, Robert Carsen, Barry Kosky, Sofia Coppola, Deborah Warner and Emma Dante.
