• Principal Conductor Orquesta del Lyceum de la Habana • Principal Conductor Symphony Orchestra University fo the Arts, Cuba • Principal Conductor Orquesta Sinfonica de Matanzas • Since 2012 Principal Guest Conductor National Orchestra of Cuba he founded the Orquesta del Lyceum de la Habana, with which he has important tours in concert halls of the US and Europe as well as some of the most important festivals such as Salzburg’s Mozartwoche invited by Rolando Villazón, Rheingau Musik Festival, Lucerne Festival, Concertgebouw Sommer Konzert, Mozart Fest-Salzburg, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Young Euro Classic Berlin, Festival de Música Sacra de Quito in South America and Festival of the Arts at the Kennedy Center in Washington. He is regularly invited to Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá, Sazlburg Chamber Soloists, Camerata Salzburg, European Youth Orchestra, Iberacademy Orchestra, Georgetown University Orchestra. Colabora regularmente con solistas como Sarah Willis (Berliner Philharmoniker), Renaud Capuçon, Gérard Caussé, Kirill Gerstein, Rolando Villazón, Jonathan Kelly, Wenzel Fuchs, Stephan Schweigert, Niurka González y Simone Dinnerstein.

Biography 

Graduate in Orchestra Direction from the College of Arts in Cuba, he also studied with  Jorge Rotter y Peter Gülke at Mozarteum in Salzburg as well as Carnegie Mellon School of Music in Pittsburgh und Jacobs School of Music in Indiana under Ronald Zollman.

In 2016 he founded the Orquesta del Lyceum de la Habana, with which he has important tours in concert halls of the US and Europe as well as some of the most important festivals such as Salzburg’s Mozartwoche invited by Rolando Villazón, Rheingau Musik Festival, Lucerne Festival, Concertgebouw Sommer Konzert, Mozart Fest-Salzburg, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Young Euro Classic Berlin, Festival de Música Sacra de Quito in South America and Festival of the Arts at the Kennedy Center in Washington.

He maintains a close collaboration with Thomas Hengelbrock und Balthasar Neumann Ensemble in a assistant music director capacity director in “Agripina” (Theater an der Wien 2016), Mozart’s “Coronation Mass” (2019), Brahms’ Requiem (Berlin 2022), “Mozart Requiem” (Havana 2023). Also, he collaborates in their Artistic residence at Château de Fontainebleau under patronage of UNESCO.  

 

FESTIVAL MOZART-HABANA

Since 2015 the Maestro is also Music Director of Mozart-Havana Festival celebrated every year in the Cuban capital, highlighting their productions of “La clemenza di Tito”, “Don Giovanni”, “Der Schauspieldirektor” y “Bastian y Bastiana”. 

 

PRIZES AND RECORDINGS  

He has recorded world premieres and first recordings of Cuban music from the period 18th to 21st century under the Office of Music Heritage Estaban Salas. With his recordings he has received multiple Cubadisco awards between 2011 and 2022, including:

In 2017 he recorded the famous CD “Mozart in Havana” with Sony Classical. Between 2020 and 2022 he conducted and produced teh trilogy “Mozart & Mambo” with the horn player of the Berliner Philharmoniker Sarah Willis and Alpha Classics.
