Petr Sokolov has been performing at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Dachenko Music Theatre in Moscow since 2016, where he appeared as Count Tomsky in The Queen of Spades and as Taddeo in L’italiana in Algeri in the 2016/17 season. He also sang the roles of Rée and Nietzsche in the world premiere of Alexander Zhurbin’s new opera Love’s Metamorphosis. The Irkutsk-born singer completed his studies at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in 2015. In 2012 he joined the Natalia Sats Moscow Children’s State Music Theatre. With this ensemble the lyric baritone gave a guest performance as General Polkan in The Golden Cockerel at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in 2013. In the same year he appeared as Escamillo in Carmen with the Moscow State Opera in Dublin, where he also performed the role of Sharpless in Madame Butterfly in 2015. In 2016 he sang the lead role in Handel’s Hercules at the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet. Petr was a semi-finalist in the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition 2017 and in the Operalia Competition 2016
